Thomas 53 says, "His disciples said to him, "Is circumcision beneficial or not?" He said to them, "If it were beneficial, their father would beget them already circumcised from their mother. Rather, the true circumcision in spirit has become completely profitable."
I've been saying this for years. And apparently the first Gnostics have been thinking the same thing for millenia. Question is, when are the dogmatic religions going to wake up and put down the scalpel?
Know Thyself comes before Love Thyself. (Unless you know yourself how can you love yourself?) And although this is a physical part being .... snipped... if parts of you are missing the natural assumption will be that there was something wrong with it. Or who made it. Hmm....
I don't know about you but if a contracted promise is made between my parents and God with the price being that they hack off a piece of my body- I'm curious(and fearful!!) of what's coming off next!
I would think that adult circumcision would make more sense, from the religious aspect. An adult can make this decision and vow before God. A squalling, pissing, innocent baby cannot.
